March 2025 Calendar of Club Events

It’s already March: As we head quickly toward warmer weather, the opportunity to get out and radio in the parks quickly becomes a much more enjoyable prospect. We have some exciting events this month, so check them out below:

Special Event: SSTV on N8SL Tuesday March 18th at 7:00pm  (Open to all licensed Amateurs)

This month, we’ll reprise our very popular SSTV Extravaganza on the N8SL repeater! Participants can expect to have the opportunity to share themed images via Slow-Scan TV in a curated SSTV NET guided by N8JRD. If you attended our past event, we’re working hard to make this next event one that allows us to share more images (based on the great feedback we got from January’s participants. Some details are provided below, for those interested in joining us! Check out our last event’s images here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DFZDHskuZ3X/

Monthly: Club-Meeting: Sunday March 9th at 6:30pm – In-Person (Open to all)

The monthly club-meeting is an opportunity for members to meet in person and share a dinner (optional) at the Witch’s Hat Brewing Company (starts at 5pm) before proceeding across the street to the official meeting place. Club meetings occur at Witch’s Hat Depot starting at 6:30pm, and generally last 1 hour. Topics for each months meeting will be posted prior to the meeting. This event is open to anyone with an interest in the club or amateur radio. You do not need to be a member to join us!

Monthly: 2-Beer Social Radio Hour: Friday March 28 @ 4:45 pm – In-Person (Open to all 21up)

Come check out our “2-beer Social” and chat about radio projects with other like minded folks! We would love to see you and raise a pint with some club members to talk about the hobby and enjoy a cold brew at the end of the week. Occurs the last Friday of each month from 4:45-7:00pm (or beyond, feel free to come a bit late if your work or commute dictates). Join us as we explore the semi-local microbrew scene!

This month we will meet at Kickstand Brewing in Commerce Township Michigan! The brewery offers a full-menu this month, and the food has been well received by club members who have tried it before.

Weekly: Sunday Evening 8pm – The Official SLAARC NET (Open to all licensed Amateurs)

Join us to chat about your recent radio achievements, hear club news, and have a chat with other club members. The weekly Sunday Evening net is the official NET of the SLAARC club and occurs on each Sunday on N8SL (147.040+ 110.9pl) where the club doesn’t have a regular monthly in-person Meeting!

As a reminder, we’re always looking for club members to volunteer to run the net! Please check out the sign-up sheet and help support our club activities if you are able!

Weekly: Thursday Evening 10pm – The Informal Late-Night Roundtable. (Open to all licensed Amateurs)

The Late-Night round table brings a bit more casual conversation with other night-owls on the repeater N8SL (147.040+ 110.9pl). This is not a formal net, so feel free to come by, jump into the conversation whenever a topic peaks your interest. Hosted by N8JRD or W8KNX, we’d love to have you for a late-evening chat!

Weekly: Saturday Morning 8:30am – In Person Radio Breakfast – In-Person (Open to all)

Join a group of club members on Saturday morning to get your day started right! Chat radio and life with other like minded folks over your choice of breakfast at the South Lyon Lucas Coney Island. The event starts at 8:30am and runs as long as you’re willing to sip a warm cup of coffee! See you there.
