The South Lyon Area Amateur Radio Club is excited to invite everyone to join us for an informal Parks on the Air (POTA) meetup! Whether you’re an experienced operator or just curious what POTA is all about, this will be a great chance to get together, have some fun, and enjoy the outdoors.
Feel free to bring whatever you need to make yourself comfortable—chairs, sunscreen, snacks, and drinks are all welcome. And if you’ve got your own radio and antenna, be sure to bring them along so you can activate a park too! We’ll have a pop-up tent with some tables set up, and for those who are new to activating or just want to give it a try, we’ll have a radio ready for you to use.
We’re also thinking about doing a mini-roving adventure to some nearby parks, like William G. Milliken State Harbor (POTA reference US-6823), so there might be a chance to activate multiple parks in one outing!
The meetup will be at POTA location US-1487, in the North End of the park. We’ll post the exact spot on our website and social media the morning of the event, so keep an eye out. It’s going to be a fun, Casual day of radio, and we hope to see you there!
Since we’ll be out of the repeater range, please use the following frequencies while we’re on the island:
Simplex – 146.570 (100hz tone) or Simplex 146.520 (no tone). Someone will be monitoring both!
