Belle Isle POTA Recap – August 25, 2024

Operating HF on the 7300

With almost 20 attendees to the Detroit, Michigan Belle Isle POTA event, the SLAARC club put on an exciting afternoon of HF Radio play and Parks on the Air.

A big thank you to all who attended the first Belle Isle POTA event. We had operators working on 40m, 20m, 10m and 15m – in both Digital Modes (FT8) as well as Phone (Ssb). Combined, we made greater than 150 contacts to hungry-hunters to successfully activate one of Michigans more unique State Parks, Belle Isle (US-1487). For activators interested in adding this park to their collection of activated entities, we recommend you head to the less busy north end of the island, near the the Ralph Wilson Gateway Trail. There you will find some pergolas offering shade, and a place to setup your gear and get on the air!
