Bob Heil graciously spoke to the South Lyon Area Amateur Radio Club’s February 14, 2021 monthly informational meeting. He presented an overview of his amazing career in audio, and its ongoing interactions with ham radio. Bob presented a lot of information about ham radio audio concerns, the importance of 2.5kHz for speech articulation, various microphones and their characteristics, and fine-tuning some audio settings for Icom and Yaesu radios. He also demonstrated Heil Audio’s PRAS-EQ Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer, and the major improvement in audio intelligibility it can provide. Bob presented various headsets, and he discussed the importance of audio phasing to long-duration listening comfort. This is a very informative 90 minute presentation. Enjoy!
